Great post – I’m starting to learn Arabic bit by bit since I converted to Islam. It’s very rich and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Another reason: Arabic is not only aesthetically beautiful and the key to some amazing literature, but also its much-feared grammar is incredibly fascinating and has the most gorgeous logic to it, especially the root system. Nothing like it! (except, of course, other Semitic language grammars!)

    1. Hi Sarah, thanks for stopping by, I like your description of “much-feared grammar” which it is, but once someone understands the system it is the best thing to master in Arabic. Yes the root system is unique to the Semitic languages, and I am sure you will agree that it does make reading much more exciting when you have to work out the root or when you understand an author’s intention in using one word over another. Thanks again!

I am learning Arabic and I can relate very well to these reasons listed here. I now find some Spanish grammar easier too, I think becuase of the beautful complex Arabic I have learned over the last 3 years. I would encourage everyone who wants to learn Arabic to do so, right away without any delay. I hope one day I can read Arabic books like Naguib Mahfouz and the likes. It’s a rich language and has an even richer literature. Thank yous so much.,
